Visiting the museum

The museum invites you to visit the permanent exhibitions, presenting collections which are closely connected with the history and cultural heritage of the region, constituting a perfect complement to the history and knowledge of the culture and society.

Our museum offers Polish or English speaking guides. Visiting the permanent exhibitions for organized groups takes from one to one and a half hours, and around two hours for individual visitors. Some of the rooms in the Bishops Palace are small, that is why a group cannot exceed thirty people. If the group is bigger, it has to be divided into two smaller groups. Then the visit is conducted by two guides simultaneously.

Reservation of the guided service has to be made in the Museum’s Department of Education and Promotion by phone: +48 13 43 213 76.

Another interesting educational activity of the Museum are guided tours of the old town and the old cemetery in Krosno.

The tour of historical monuments of the old town: Bishops Palace (the headquarters of The Subcarpathian Museum in Krosno), Piłsudskiego street, the parish church of the Holy Trinity, the parish belfry (from the outside), Krosno town square (old boundaries, the former Mayor’s residence and Renaissance Town Hall, the existing Mayor’s House), the Franciscan church (Oświęcim Chapel).

Old Krosno Cemetery: a necropolis founded in 1786 and closed in 1954, where many valuable tombstones and a monument to the January Uprising have been preserved. The guided tour of the lanes in the cemetery presents the history of the city from the mid-19th c. to the beginning of the 20th c. and stories of outstanding citizens of Krosno.
